30 and 31 July – Rest Day/Surgery

Friday, July 31st, 2009

The 30th was a rest day, although I should have did something since I will be down for about two weeks. Seen a nutrionist as well and actually told me something that blew my mind. She said I am not eating enough and at the right times. I am of course am not eating some of the right things in a balanced fashion when I do eat. Good news and I am already making adjustments to my diet. Lots of veggies, fruits, grains and a dab of protein. One of the big things was eating a balanced breakfast, which I hardly ever do, if I eat breakfast at all. So that is one change, the other is adding a healthy mid morning and afternoon snack. So as I get backk into the routine after my two week recovery, I will also post my weight loss progress as well.

29 July – Set Back Coming

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Woke up this morning and got my wake up run in. It was easy pace (65-70% max HR) for about 22 minutes, the usuall monring wake up call I guess.

The rest of the day did not work out as planned, I had to workk through lunch and by the time I was off work I was too tired. Which is why I want to get those morning runs in, because at least I have something completed for the day.

We can make up for it tomorrow. However I have an out patient surgery Friday and have to take two weeks off according to the doctor, we’ll see about that though.

28 July – Working Toward Something

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Woke up this morning around 4:15 am. My odest son (14 yrs) woke up and ran with me. It was an easy (65-70% max HR) run for about 25 minutes.

According to my half marathon training plan, I was supposed to do 35-40 minutes of cross training today. I am not sweating it though since I got the easy run in this morning and the extra time on the elliptical yesterday.

Tomorrow is an easy day of 30-40 minutes of running, but I will probably add a morning run as well. I love easy runs in the morning. It gets my day started off just right.

Monday 27 July – It Begins Today

Monday, July 27th, 2009

My quest for half marathon madnes began officially yesterday. I have been telling myself off and on for a couple months now, that I would start training for one. I just never really had the patience to setup and stick to a schedule. Well, that and a little groin strain set me back a couple weeks too.

Well, yesterday I started on a nice little training schedule and will start sharing my experiences with everyone on this blog. Hopefully it will give you some ideas and I hope YOU SHARE yours as well by posting here.
