Like Running Hills on your Treadmill?
Monday, December 7th, 2009Author: Emile A. Jarreau
It doesn’t take much to convince somebody of the exercise benefits of running. Anyone who has spent any time at all running knows just how taxing it can be on the body and how quickly it can get your cardiovascular system into shape. The fat burning effects of running are well-known as well; ever seen a chubby marathon runner?

Running Up Hill and Accelerating Over the Crest for Psyche Sake!
Sunday, March 8th, 2009If you are a competitive runner or a jogger may I suggest that you learn to run hills better. One thing you can do when running uphill is to accelerate over the crest of the hill. If you are simply out jogging and you increase your speed as you come over the crest of the hell you will find yourself in a very good position to take advantage of any downhill slope on the other side and it will give you self-confidence and boost your psyche.
Running Hills: The Internal Fight with Self
Friday, February 20th, 2009Running Hills is like life, full of highs and lows. Yes, you work hard to get to the top and when you are there, you have just a few seconds or even minutes to enjoy the victory. However, what goes up must come down and thus you begin your decent, running back down the hill. Running down hill, you quickly realize that you must again suffer through the climb back up.
Slow Hill Runs are the Way to Build
Saturday, February 7th, 2009Over the last few weeks, as you may know, I have been running hills regularly. If you are a regular here, you also know I don’t have much choice. Our new location requires you either run uphill or run downhill.
That all said, I have actually learned to start embracing this little “bump” in the road, or bumps in the roads. I have seen some significant gains from all the uphill running. My speed and leg strength are improving everyday.
Run to Hills for Up Hill Running…
Thursday, January 22nd, 2009…and stay away from the treadmill if at all possible.
Now do not get me wrong, treadmills are great, especially when mother nature throws you a big, fat, crappy bunch of weather. However, if you need a REAL hill workout, then run to the hills. Do your up hill running on a real incline and not on a plastic belt that has been elevated by a machine.
Run the Hills Fatty!
Monday, January 19th, 2009It seems all I do anymore is run the hills. Thats right, run the hills. No I am not in the Blue Ridge Mountains or Denver Colorado. Okinawa Japan has it’s own set of unique challenges, especially hills. Some of them quite challenging, especially for a fat runner.
So I continue to run the hills, burn fat and get into shape. The scenary is great and easy on the eyes as well. It almost makes you forget that the hills are there. The flowers, trees and other odd sights make the run entertaining. The smells can also be very unique. The smell of small homes cooking breakfast, lunch and dinner entice the taste buds and long for the run to be over so my big fat butt can have some food of my own.
Fat Burning Hill Running Workouts Requested
Monday, January 5th, 2009Lately I have been running some hilly routes. In fact, I don’t have much choice. The new place where I live is nothing but hills. So, if life gives you lemons, make lemonade…right? Well, that is what I am doing. I am on a hill running binge and trying to come up with several workouts using hills.
If you can come across any, other than those on runnerworld.com, I would love to have you post about them.
