Yoga beginners Yoga can physically counteract the strains of running. This is important to runners, who produce a lot of endorphins. Endorphins can mask pain, injury or illness. Without developed body intuition you receive from Yoga, it's harder to understand these signals.

Turkey Traks 5K and Rest Week

By admin | November 26, 2009

Ran the Turkey Traks 5k and it went well considering. I wasn’t expecting the hills to be such a factor, but there is what is called the Habu trail that a good deal of the course was on and per the name, those hills will bite like a Habu. Training on the treadmill did not come close to preparing me for those hills. I didn’t do too bad on the hills, but it was after the roller coaster hills that my legs just died.

The start of the race seemed slow as well. I kid of want to kick myself for not getting out a little faster. Most of the runners were running the 10k race, which they started 10k and 5k runners together. Most of the runners up front were the 10k runners which is more than likely why the start felt so slow.

Either way, no excuses, all around I was satisfied with the the effort. The final time was 25:23, so slow start and kick but hills considered, I am happy.

The rest of this week I decided to take off and recuperate. My legs and body were feeling the last 8 weeks of hard training so I figure taking the week off should help a lot. In fact I already feel really good and ready to start the Hal Higdon 10k Training Plan, but will wait until Monday. Hopefully I can get into my upper body workout routine as well.
