Yoga beginners Yoga can physically counteract the strains of running. This is important to runners, who produce a lot of endorphins. Endorphins can mask pain, injury or illness. Without developed body intuition you receive from Yoga, it's harder to understand these signals.

Running Hills: The Internal Fight with Self

By admin | February 20, 2009

Running Hills is like life, full of highs and lows. Yes, you work hard to get to the top and when you are there, you have just a few seconds or even minutes to enjoy the victory. However, what goes up must come down and thus you begin your decent, running back down the hill. Running down hill, you quickly realize that you must again suffer through the climb back up.

The question, I have to ask myself running these hills everyday is; “Do I want to feel the pain and run the next hill?”. Then I begin a conversation with myself and I reply with the following statement; “So what would you do if you stopped? Go the other way? You still have to run up hill to go back!

So the outcome is that I choose to move forward, running hills and never looking back.

I used to hate hills when I ran in high school. I was terrible at them, had no leg strength and it showed. These days I don’t really care about speed, just staying in shape, feeling the burn and shedding the weight. I have now fallen in love with running hills and I would be disappointed if I ever have to live somewhere without them.

Running hills I believe has been the reason why I have been able to shed some much weight quickly, build up my leg strength and get my “wind” back.

Well, that is it for this week, time to head out for another hill run:)
