Running Fat and the Fat Run: No laughing matter
By admin | August 11, 2008
Everyone seems to get a kick out of or they are insulted by the title of this site, Running Fat. However it is not intended to be insulting, but I do expect it to be funny at times. One thing that is no laughing matter is being obese.
People, who are too fat, run the risk of several health problems. How fat a person is can be determined using the Body Mass Index (BMI), which is calculated by dividing the weight of the person by the square height of that person. A person is classified as overweight if the BMI is between 25 and 30 and as obese if BMI is 30 or more. Both overweight and obese people are generally considered fat.
Being fat causes several health problems such as cardiovascular diseases, osteoarthritis, lack of sleep and fatigue, excessive sweating and panting, diabetes, etc. Muscles, when in motion, use up energy which in turn is produced from fat and glycogen. Therefore to reduce fat run for about 30 minutes everyday as running is an exercise which moves the muscles a lot.
However exercising alone does not reduce a lot of weight. One must also control one’s dietary intake in order to effectively reduce weight. Thus to reduce fat run for about 30 minutes everyday and also cut down on your food consumption. Liquor (especially drinks such as beer) is also a major cause of excess fat. Consult a doctor or a nutritionist to find out which is the right diet for you in order to reduce weight and not be either overweight or obese.
If you are fat, run and eat less (also eat less fatty foods). In addition, one can take medicines for reducing weight and even go in for bariatric surgery but such measures need to be taken only in extreme cases and such procedures are also expensive. To reduce your fat, run more and eat less – this is a less expensive method of reducing weight but it involves a lot of hard work and patience as it takes considerable time as well.
A study found that on an average, a man has 8 to 22% body fat, if he does not exercise and 5 to 15% if he exercises. Women have 20 to 35% in case of less activity and exercise and 16 to 28% in case of regular exercise. Therefore, if you are fat, run and it will help in reducing your body fat.
On the other hand, professional runners also lose a lot of fat when they run. In their case, they must have a very controlled diet, so that neither do they put on extra weight and become slow and nor do they develop problems due to lack of nutrition. But for those suffering from excess weight or obesity, cutting down on food intake (only on the advice of a proper doctor or nutritionist as suddenly reducing food intake may lead to nausea and dizziness) will help in reducing fat if one realizes that to reduce fat run more and eat less is a well-proven formula.
Remember the golden words of alleviating weight problems: if you are fat, run more and eat less fatty foods. If you are fat and you don’t run, then remember that people who are fat run the risk of several problems.
