Half Marathon Training for the Fat Guy

By admin | May 6, 2009

So my fat running butt has been slacking when it comes to training for a half-marathon. For some reason, I am barely motivating myself to run for 30 minutes at a time. The exception being this weekend when I ran for an hour on the treadmill Saturday and on Sunday.

I have to get my stuff in gear. This fat tail is not going to dig the half marathon if it is not ready for it.

“What half marathon?”, I keep asking myself. I don’t even know when or where I will run one. I just want to train for it I guess, sounds nice and requires less training time than a marathon. Been there and done that before, and the time it took was killer on the schedule. Besides, I was younger, thinner and in better running condition then.

Think I will hunt around on the web today for a half-marathon training schedule. Being military, I like structure, schedules and goals. So having a set training plan is what I like.

Now that I think of it, my like of half marathon motivation may be due to the fact I have had no structured training plan. In fact I know it. “God Fat boy, you are such a genius!”, I am saying to myself as I write this.

Am I crazy? Now I am talking to myself as I type. Absolutely crazy, what kind of person likes to run, let alone run a half-marathon?

For new readers, if you think I am crazy, you need to talk to these Ultra-marathoners!

Until next post, here is to fat running…
