Turkey Traks 5k Run Tomorrow – Thanksgiving Day Run

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Been almost a week since my last post and I apologize to all the RunningFat readers for this.

NO! I was not out eating all week at Burger King. It was a crazy and busy week.

Knocked out a couple good workouts in and some easy runs to bring me into the race this Sunday at Futenma. It will be a 5k race and I am shooting for 20 to 21 for my finish time.

For those that may not know, I have been following the Hal Higdon Advanced 5k Training Plan for the last 8 weeks. So this Sunday will be the culmination of 8 weeks of hard work.

Jogging is probably the most well known cardiovascular exercise among people. Like if you would talk to your friend about losing weight and say that you want to do some cardio exercises, Jogging would always come up. And of course, jogging is effective as almost everyone talks about when it comes to losing weight.Getting yourself to jog on a regular basis can be challenging since it usually takes a long time for your body to recover from the fatigue caused by jogging. And on most occasions, even if you’re wearing the most comfortable exercise outfit(pants, sneakers, etc.) you have, your body seems to resist jogging.

Jogging is probably the most effective cardiovascular and weight loss exercise. But there are times when it is impossible for you to go outside to jog. That’s when jogging alternatives come in.

Most of the runners especially with the intention of reducing their weight, may increase a few pounds early on as their body prefers more dense muscle tissue in the place of fat. But if they continue with the program, they’ll literally run off the excess fat.

Use Running to Lose Weight – It Really Works
By Andy Maingam

If there is one thing I didn’t want to do as a young man was loose weight. My nick name at school was Stick. Others were Skinny Ribs and Skelator. There were a couple of reasons why I was so thin. One was simply because I was full of energy and always running around, and the other must have been down to me having an ultra fast metabolism. Oh how I hated those nicknames back then, but I would have loved to have them back once I hit my mid 40’s as I became as fat as a barrel. Alas, I was to become a couch potato and my poor ole metabolism began to slow down with age. But I did eventually find a solution to the middle age spread and that was simply by running to lose weight.
